Project Raspail - Le Bon Marché.
For their first home in Europe, my clients chose Paris’ Left Bank, between Le Bon Marché and Saint-Germain-des-Prés. Although recently renovated, the apartment lacked character and warmth. I was commissioned to furnish and decorate the entire home, while reworking the kitchen and master suite to better suit their needs.
The design took its inspiration from a beautiful antique silk screen, whose delicate landscape and muted colours became the starting point for the entire palette. Drawing on the spirit of wabi-sabi, we explored natural materials, tactile textures and organic forms to create an atmosphere that feels warm, serene and effortlessly inviting.
In the entrance, an artist was commissioned to hand-paint the ceiling with pine trees bending in the wind, echoing the movement of the silk screen. Throughout the apartment, sculptural lighting, bespoke furnishings, rich fabrics and carefully considered details bring softness and character to the interiors. Pieces from Pierre Frey, Porada, Élitis, Hamilton Conte, Giopato & Coombes and Arte were selected for their craftsmanship and the way they complement one another.
Every detail was considered, from the curves of a custom-shaped rug to a reading corner overlooking the Eiffel Tower. The result is a deeply personal Parisian home, designed to offer its owners a sense of calm and belonging whenever they return.
